I curl in bed and close my eyes
Like all the times before.
But something strange this night’s occurring,
I simply can’t ignore.
My ears tune in like satellite discs,
And pick up every sound-
Like the ticking of my desk clock,
And that housefly circling ‘round.
There’s whispering in the distance
Outside my bedroom door,
Water dripping from a faucet,
And the creaking of the floor.
I hear Me purring in and out,
And the stretching of my toes,
My heartbeat, and my sniffling,
And the whistling in my nose.
A growling in my tummy
Is detected way down deep.
CAN EVERYTHING BE QUIET PLEASE!
